Meningitis

The inflammation of the membranes of the brain or spinal cord is called meningitis.It may be due to trauma or various kinds of infections due to micro-organism like meningococci,pneumococci,staphylococci;varoius kinds of bacillus,tubercle and viral infections and syphilitic origin,etc.The onset is usually sudden with severe headache and high fever,vomiting and rigors amy be in the beginning,on 2nd or 3rd day along with high fever,backache,pain in limbs and intense headache is present and often the stiffness of neck passes on to rigidity with dilaton of pupils and intolerable headache,delirium,photophobia, restlessness etc. develops.The symptoms move towards fatal end.
The treatment of the sick should be timely and hospitalization should be preferred.
